THIS IS A CLOSED MEETING of Sex Addicts Anonymous. If you have a desire to stop addictive compulsive behavior, you are welcome here.
PURPOSE: Although we welcome Straight, Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgendered members, the purpose of this meeting is to provide a safe space for the LGBT community to share our unique experiences. It is very appropriate to share your experiences of being gay, and also what it means to be a recovering gay sex addict.
After a moment of silence we will open our meeting with the SERENITY PRAYER.
(Get volunteers to read: Opening, Program and Steps, Abstinence Statement, Tradition and Ottawa Promises)
Will ___________ please read the SAA Opening?
Will ___________ please read our Program AND the 12 steps?
Will ___________ please read the Abstinence statement?
Will ___________ please read the tradition of the month?
WELCOME NEWCOMERS: For any newcomers with us for their first Sex Addicts Anonymous meeting, we acknowledge you for the courage it took to get here. After the close of our regular meeting there will be a time for you to ask questions and get contact information from others to support your recovery through the SAA 12-step program. Would any newcomers like to introduce themselves, if so please feel free to identify yourself by your first name and location you are calling from. You are welcome here. Please keep coming back. We hope you will find you are in a safe place in this meeting.
IT IS NOW TIME FOR GENERAL INTRODUCTIONS. It is the custom of this group for members to share their first name only, where you are from, how you are feeling, a brief description of your inner circle and your current length of sobriety.
THE FORMAT OF THIS MEETING is a study of the SAA Green Book and on the FIRST MONDAY of the month we have a guest speaker, first step presentation or a topic for discussion.
TONIGHT we:
(are reading from the Green Book, page ___. We will read for about 10 minutes and then open the meeting for general sharing.)
OR
(have a guest speaker, first step presentation, topic) (introduce as appropriate. Limit presentation to about 15-20 minutes to allow time for sharing after the presentation.)
THE MEETINGS IS NOW OPEN FOR SHARING.
You can share about the reading or just get current. To keep the meeting safe, we do not make direct comments about another person's share or give advice. Please avoid mentioning the name of a Book, Movie, Treatment Center or the like in your share because this can be viewed by some as "promotion”. It is ok, however, to talk about your own experiences with these items. It is ok to reference tonight’s reading in your share. It is also safe to speak in “I” statements rather than “you” statements. Feel free to share more specific information after the Serenity Prayer when Fellowship begins.
Please keep your shares to about 4-5 minutes. I will help moderate. Who would like to begin?
THAT IS ALL THE TIME WE HAVE for sharing. If you did not get a chance to share, please stay and talk with us during our fellowship.
